Implants are becoming more popular because they are titanium posts that are imbedded into the bone of the lower jaw or upper ridge area.  These posts provide a mechanical retention, which enables the denture to snap on and off the posts for greater stability in the mouth.

There are numerous types of implants and implant systems.  We will provide you with the information you need as it can be a little overwhelming when it comes to a surgical procedure such as this.  Patients with little bone remaining in the lower jaw, however, have difficulty with proper fitting dentures that have no stability.  These same patients will come back to me and say; “I wish I would have done this a long time ago!”  I would agree, and would love to see all patients with full lower dentures have some implants put in the lower jaw for the best results in holding the lower denture in place.  I am always amazed to see the look on the patients face after the new denture is inserted and snapped down over the implants.  Their amazement with a new secure denture makes the whole procedure worth while.
